As the Head of the firm’s Insolvency and Restructuring Department, Mark has acted in one capacity or another in many of the country’s most high profile liquidations, receiverships and examinerships of recent years. Mark advises the country’s leading insolvency practitioners and all the principle banks on all aspects of insolvency law and practice. His team has advised court appointed liquidators in nearly one hundred Official Liquidations and advised the various stakeholders (directors, shareholders, creditors and banks) in many more.

Mark regularly lectures in the Law Society of Ireland and in the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ireland on Insolvency Law. He is a founding member of the Irish Society of Insolvency Practitioners (ISIP), sits on the ISIP council and chairs the ISIP Law Reform Committee. Mark is a longstanding member of INSOL the European Insolvency group and a former member of the INSOL technical committee.


Mark’s experience includes:

  • Acting for receivers, receiver managers and lending institutions in receivership cases;
  • Involvement in multiple High Court, Commercial Court and Supreme Court proceedings against defaulting borrowers, personal guarantors and syndicated property companies and partnerships;
  • Acting for numerous voluntary and court liquidators, examiners and receivers in respect of all aspects of relevant insolvency law;
  • Considerable experience in commercial litigation generally, dealing with many areas, from shareholder and partnership breakdown to various forms of contractual and tortious disputes.
