Alison Hardiman


Alison Hardiman (BL), a former practising barrister, and works in partnership with the Planning and Environmental Team and the Procurement Team within Fieldfisher Ireland.


Alison previously spent five years working in house in the Railway Procurement Agency as their planning lawyer. She has upwards of 15 years’ experience working on behalf of developers and researching the practical implications of the legislation governing this highly technical area of law.

Alison has particular expertise in:

  1. Planning, development and environmental law;
  2. Strategic infrastructure development;
  3. Planning applications for complex developments;
  4. Oral hearings;
  5. Planning related litigation including judicial reviews; and
  6. EIA, SEA, AA and associated assessment and licensing requirements.


During her time in the Railway Procurement Agency, Alison worked on major public procurement projects including Metro North in particular. She subsequently worked for a number of years as an independent consultant, advising private sector firms regarding procurement and tendering processes.

Alison has particular expertise in:

  1. Advising contracting authorities on appropriate procurement strategies;
  2. Advising contracting authorities on appropriate procurement strategies;
  3. Preparation of legally compliant, effective Requests for Tender;
  4. Provision of highly practical advice regarding compliance with legal obligations throughout the tender process;
  5. Best practice regarding the evaluation and debriefing processes;
  6. Training of in house teams tasked with aspects of procurement on behalf of their contracting authority employer;
  7. Working with tenderers to develop the best possible response to tender when participating in a tender competition.
